The LORD Jehovah is Immutable (unchanging) and so are His eternal words as the Most High Almighty God
I am thankful for those church workers and volunteers that encouraged me to do memory verses from my King James Bible in my childhood years – Sunday school, Vacation bible school, summer bible camps and as an adult in our early years in church while raising our own children. This memory facility that I acquired of key KJB verses later would help me detect the problems I would see in my NIV (New International Version – 1978) back when I first started naively and innocently teaching from it. I refer to the first edition year of my NIV for it was the earliest one offered. Since then there have been subsequent and continuing further changes. The NIV bible editors have quietly (and without formal disclosure early on) changed the “sacred” text a number of times. After pressure, they finally made “public announcements” of significant changes at least twice since the first readings that were issued in 1978.
Proverbs warns us to beware of those “given to change”.
21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change: Proverbs 24:21 (Emphasis mine)
God says elsewhere in his word, “I am the Lord…I change not…” Malachi 3:6 (Emphasis mine)
James 1:16, 17 confirms the same:
“Do not err, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (Emphasis mine)
Huge “red flags” should make us sit up and take notice when men are changing “God’s words” even after it is determined to be an already corrupt version to begin with! And it is especially problematic when the changes are in substantial major areas of doctrinal importance. These changes were also done in such a short period of time, only twenty years “adding insult to injury” to the words of God!
The editors and promotion ad men for the NIV tell us; “most accurate and readable”, “more clear and understandable” and then they turn around one hundred and eighty degrees and say, “we have IMPROVED it yet again”. Perhaps the first NIV edition wasn’t so accurate and trustworthy after all! The problem is not just changes for “polishing” a pure text like the KJB translators. These changes in the NIV and other modern bibles are grievous moves in the wrong doctrinal directions.
The word of the LORD God Almighty is not an evolving thing!
It is not shifting sand, it is the SOLID ROCK. It is settled forever in heaven.
…For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.Psalm 119 (Emphasis mine)
If it’s settled there in heaven, it’s settled here on earth as well!
The purpose primary purpose of this article, is to show you why we need to stay with the King James Bible. It honors God when you make the personal commitment to honor and use the KJB as the trustworthy English bible for English speaking people...the BIBLE that God has given us for our time in history continuing on until he comes back for us at the resurrection-translation (also known as the "rapture"). (If your not familiar with that doctinal teaching see my article "Jesus Is Coming for the Bride"Imminence")
The NIV is shifting sand instead of solid rock
One of the deceptive and hypocritical changes made by the NIV translation committee was to go back to a large number of AV1611 KJB type readings because of the new evidence uncovered from a recent collation by “scholars” of ancient papyri recently discovered that support the King James Bible renderings. These fragments represent some of the oldest manuscript evidence we have today, even older then the two main ancient fourth century documents underlying the modern “new” Greek Text from Nestle’s and the United Bible Societies. (This is notated by the symbol NU in bibles and reference materials for study)
People carrying their King James Bible “version” had the right readings for over twenty years in these hundreds of places where the NIV was different and often corrupt beyond hope. The NIV people were compelled to change many readings admitting the inferior text they had used in the earlier edition. This alone creates some real concerns that modern versions are suspect and potentially dangerous when at any time, it could move suddenly in a different direction. There is no continuity and pure stream of text that these editors can point to in their NIV bible.
What if people memorize these verses? And many have done just that very thing. They would have wasted their time and programmed their minds with the wrong meanings and words. One pastor I know of gave his testimony that before he understood this issue he had memorized the entire Gospel of John using the NIV. He was frustrated at all of the time he wasted on the wrong text. With God’s help and his repentant spirit, he began to correct his memory work with the KJB. The good that came from it was his intimate acquaintance with the errors in the NIV and seeing the stark differences between the two bibles. Ultimately the LORD honored his heart attitude and turned his effort into a useful purpose.
Your eternal life (and mine) depends on the information in the true bible. Defective and inaccurate information can mislead and thus destroy souls for eternity. Perhaps some people are saved reading these corrupted bibles, but many have been confused and deceived because these modern corrupt texts tend to support the “false gospels” by their subtle variations in readings. This becomes more apparent as we examine texts carefully.
Zondervan publishes the NIV. As of this writing, Zondervan is owned by News Corporation, Rupert Murdoch’s media empire. They are closely affiliated with Harper Collins and Harper San Francisco, other Murdoch holdings. These two are well known publishers of New Age books and counter culture publications that challenge traditional Judeo-Christian thought even though they boast that they respect all religious traditions (sure!; this is profitable – they want to sell everybody books of some kind).
Rupert Murdoch’s media empire also owns FOX, the Wall Street Journal and other global broadcast systems such as the Star Network in China. He has collaborated with the Chinese communists to get this foothold of media in their part of the world. How sobering to see the clever way Satan gets control of world centers of power, influence, money and religious-political discussion.
Rupert Murdoch is a globalist, and politically speaking, a progressive socialist by his own admission. He is heavily oriented to New Age concepts and modern pagan ideas for the world’s future, contrary to the claims of the true bible. His organization is the kind of company that understands the benefits of controlling money making books that affect people’s world view. The NIV is a money maker and has the kind of shortened readings that support today’s ecumenical spirit of global “unity”. By taking out distinctive defining words or phrases, a broader range of meaning can be supported for more groups to recognize their particular teaching.
Zondervan boasts that the NIV in all of its variations has sold over 150 million copies (as of 2012) worldwide since its start with the New Testament in 1973. This is nothing compared to global sales of King James Bibles in this same time period.
Sales have been hurt since the uncovering of problems in the NIV that started to really gain momentum in 1993 and continue to grow to this day. Many Christians are waking up but many remain asleep and slipping further into apostasy... and new believers are pulled into the deception unwittingly.
The promotional efforts and propaganda machine of Zondervan finds new ways to sell more variations of the NIV. I counted over 15 different variations of the NIV offered on their web site. They are pushing hard their Today’s New International Version (TNIV) with the New Testament being released first, incorporating many changes again!
Doctrine is affected by changes!
The AV1611 KJB states in Ephesians 3:9: “…God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.”
The TNIV, NIV, ESV, HCSB and NASB simply state, “…God, who created all things. The additional qualifier “by Jesus Christ” has been OMITTED! Gone!
Why? The answer seems obvious; that all religions except a system of religious scientism such as secular evolution, accept that “God created all things”, however, only true biblical Christian teaching acknowledges that “God created all things by Jesus Christ”. The alternative religions would never accept this because this would imply that the Christian biblical view of absolute truth is the only correct one. It would also support that Jesus Christ is deity because only God could be considered the great Creator.
Furthermore, only God himself could bring into existence this universe of “things” because he is transcendent, outside of and distinct from his creation. He is not limited to time, space and matter which comprises the known universe. He is Spirit and without the limits of his own creation. Therefore the logical conclusion is that Jesus Christ is God!
Satan cannot allow his false religions to acknowledge this eternal truth. That causes men to receive and worship Jesus Christ and shuts down Satan’s whole program for exalting himself to be worshiped by man. He can tolerate the teaching that Jesus Christ is a “son of God” in the New Age sense, which teaches that we all can come into this realization and relationship with God as “sons”. But as “God manifest in the flesh” (I Timothy 3:16) and the creator of all things (Colossians 2), Jesus would be “the only begotten Son” (John 3 and I John), unique and having equality with his Father in heaven.
This is also why they have changed the reading in I Timothy 3:16 from "God was mainfest in the flesh" to “he who was manifest in the flesh”. Certainly they cannot admit that God himself was manifest (made known and plain for all to see) in the flesh as the LORD Jesus Christ even though the vast majority of the extant Greek manuscripts clearly support “God (Theos) was manifest in the flesh” – to emphasize again, over 99% of the textual evidence agrees with this rendering.
The construction of the text rendered as “he who” is not in any Greek text and has no underlying support whatsoever! This is an outright fraudulent action in my view. The bible editors that expect us to accept this loose handling of sacred scripture are brazen in their arrogance and this is scandalous. The fires of God's wrath will burn hot for those that tamper with the words of the LORD.
The truncated text in Ephesians 3:9, “God who created all things” dropping “by Jesus Christ” and other passages like it can be traced historically back to the earliest corruptions by those men who questioned the teachings of God’s word and wanted to blend them with their own pagan beliefs. The NIV has dropped over 64,000 words compared to the full text in the King James Bible.
It started even while Paul was alive and writing letters to the churches. These Satanically influenced changes can be seen in today’s modern corrupt versions. As I stated earlier, the battle against the true bible waged by Satan has been going on since the Garden of Eden when he stated to Eve to plant doubt in her mind, “Yea hath God said”?
The NIV’s tendency toward being acceptable to New Age philosophy will be discussed later in another article as the scope of this discussion does not permit proper treatment now. Other modern versions likewise support the direction toward ecumenical unity and a unified set of beliefs among all religions of the world. This is only logical as Satan wants to move the world to unity under one religious and political system that supports his rule and worship. He needs a “bible” to ultimately reinforce the doctrine that will be “officially” recognized in “his kingdom” as opposed to the “kingdom of God and his Christ. These modern bibles are incremental steps toward this Antichrist bible to be revealed in due time.
Techniques the devil uses
Omissions are not the only technique he uses. There are additions as well. Intrusions of man’s thoughts and opinions into the text with no underlying support from ancient languages abound in the NIV. This also occurs in other modern versions to varying degrees. We will see concrete evidence of this as we proceed further in various articles. The warning in the New Testament book of the Revelation is a sobering reminder to us once again!
“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” Revelation 22: 18 – 19 (Emphasis mine)
Word substitutions are another common move. The copyright laws require substantial changes or you cannot perfect your legal control over the text. Synonyms and other methods of change are rampant in the NIV and other modern versions.
If a word cannot be changed because of strategic importance, then another “word weapon” can be employed. A shift of meaning or connotation is often found when comparisons are made. The use of semantic meanings of words is yet another very powerful tool that Satan uses. If he can’t change the text, he will resort to changing the meaning attached to the words of the text. Redefining key terms is a major step in reorienting people’s thinking. The “Christ” of Christianity is being redefined as a New Age “Christ” with broad ecumenical appeal to many false world religions.
The richness of meaning can be shattered by the choice of words, especially when the choices are poor and done primarily for the copyright concerns. Here is an example of an important verse I analyzed - Galatians 6:1. The LORD showed me this lesson a few years ago. It has been published on a King James Bible defense web site with some positive support and feedback.
Galatians 6:1 – a comparison of the NIV with the AV1611, KJB
The NIV has a very weak rendering as they use dynamic equivalency of thought (man's opinion of the meaning) rather than take the precise approach of translating from the original language to the new language of English using literal precision accuracy as did the AV translators. The AV renders the Greek text word for word (Textus Receptus) even retaining the right word order to communicate and preserve faithfully God's full-intended meaning.
NIV
Brothers, If someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Galatians 6:1
AV
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Galatians 6:1
The problems are subtle but serious...
1) "is caught in a sin" is not equivalent to "be overtaken in a fault" The NIV's "thought" implies we can get away with sin or get "caught"...The phrase "overtaken in a fault" turns our attention not to a specific act or thought but a weakness and pattern of sin that might be besetting us. If we lose the term "fault", we lose the important link to a key companion verse: James 5:16 “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.”
This is the concept of fellow believers in the body of Christ helping one another overcome "faults". Admitting need and then praying together is the source of "healing" spiritually from the problem. This relates directly to the Lord's command to "resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).
The NIV makes the same grievous word choice in this companion verse thus supporting the very Roman Catholic error in their dogma and rite of "auricular confession" as part of their doctrine of a progressive salvation experience.
James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. (NIV)
Roman Catholic teaching justifies their use of the confessional with this rendering. Further compounding of this error with even greater errors then comes as a result. In their salvation doctrine, we "are being saved", which reflects the wording in certain verses of the NIV, whereas the AV uses "are saved" as a once for all and conclusive action with results that continue on in the present and future. (See 1 Cor. 1:18, II Cor. 2:15)
2) The plural form of "ye" is better then "you" which is not specific enough. "You" implies that an individual may take this responsibility on by himself whereas "ye" implies that it should be a group of spirit filled believers joining together to claim the victory in this restoration ministry. This plural form (“ye” – meaning all of you) guards against the spiritual pride of any one individual taking the initiative and credit.
3) "restore him gently" is not equivalent to "restore such an one in the spirit of meekness" "Gently" is a very general and vague term when compared to the rich meaning of "in the spirit of meekness". It places the wrong connotation upon the whole process. Meekness is "power under control". It implies firmness, resolve, confidence in the Lord's grace, strength in standing for righteousness sake and submission to the will and word of God. "Gently" could easily cause the improper use of empathy. It could lead to the rationalizing or excusing of the sin, the trivializing of the root problem and over indulgence in the sinner's grief or pain. It could cause some accommodation of the flesh's weakness, biblical compromise and plainly stated, a "going soft" on the person rather than being led by God's spirit in meekness.
4) "watch yourself is not equivalent to "considering thyself" The use of the word "consider" carries much more weight than "watch". It involves more than one of the five senses. In fact, we need to use all of our faculties, especially our spiritual discernment. We are to look at all the principles and precepts from God's word and not just the obvious things in front of our "eyes" that might cause us to "stumble". Looking carefully at our heart through the lens of God's word is what is implied in the statement "consider thyself". God is interested in the hidden and secret things of the heart and not the outward "appearance". When we only "watch" we are more concerned at what others see as though we are just looking at a mirror. It is too easy to pretend being right with God by putting on an outward show. "Consider" causes us to look inward and see what God sees so that we might confess our sin to Him, seek His correction and be changed by His transforming grace. We can also confess our "faults" in general terms referring to our sinful tendencies to our fellow believers for support and prayer warfare. God does not want us parading the details of our sin to others and thus involving them indirectly in the same enticements, which gave birth to our lust, which in turn gave birth to our sin. This confessing of "sins" could lead that person into problems of their own. This is indeed the very thing that happens with Roman Catholic priests, especially in the area of sexual temptations. This pattern in the Church of Rome is on the record for those willing to face the truth.
5) "or you also may be tempted" is not equivalent to "lest thou also be tempted" The use of the word "may" leaves it uncertain if temptation will come to the person(s) ministering to the man overtaken in the fault, whereas, the AV states with certainty, "lest thou also be tempted" if you don't "consider thyself". This requires humble admission that it is only by God's preserving grace that the ministering person is not also overtaken in the same manner. As stated earlier, specifics and details should be avoided in the discussion of "faults". Specific details of "sins" are only to be shared with the Lord and the person offended and involved in the sin if appropriate for healing and restoration.
In conclusion, it is not just in areas of key doctrinal conflicts that the NIV is a problem but in its assault upon God's word in diluting the richness of meaning in almost every aspect of the text. The AV is the English translation that God ordained from His trustworthy pure preserved text that the martyrs shed their blood to protect. “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Rev 12:11 (Emphasis mine)
The perfect transmission of the sacred text is a wonderful truth.
God's promise to preserve His word for every generation is clear in scripture.
“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” Psalm 12:6 (Emphasis mine)
The AV was the seventh in a godly lineage of English Bible efforts. It was purified further in seven editions culminating in the 1769 edition that we have today. The text was never changed, just spellings and printing errors that perfected the book. It is interesting to note that the word ENGLISH has seven letters. Try that with other languages. This alone would hint to us that God had special plans for His word in English. But to further fuel that thought, English was the seventh major language group that God's word appeared in for His people!
⦁Hebrew, 2) Chaldean-Aramaic, 3) Greek, 4) Semitic language families of Arabic-Syrian-Coptic (Egyptian) 5) Latin – Italic (Italian root languages) 6) Gothic-Anglo Saxon, 7) English (in parallel to French, Spanish, Portuguese and other romance languages
