This work is solely dedicated to the one and only wise and almighty God – Jehovah (also rendered as ‘LORD’ in thousands of places in the Authorized English language Holy Bible of 1611). The personal name Jehovah is used exactly seven times in the Bible’s Old Testament (AV text)1, seven being the divine number of perfection. The appearance of this sacred divine name seven times is no coincidence.
The LORD-Jehovah is revealed in the Scriptures as the eternal Godhead, the entire universe being sustained by “the word of His power and eternal Godhead” (Romans 1); the Godhead consisting of three persons who are holy, immutable, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent and eternal, from before the world and the universe began as a created continuum of time, space and matter.
1) The first person of the Godhead is the Heavenly Father, who from everlasting to everlasting, rules and reigns with The Word, His eternal Son and the Holy Ghost from the highest heaven of all heavens. The Godhead transcends even the universe of all created beings and things. The LORD is infinite and eternal, while also imminent (and omnipresent) within the created universe because “in him we live, and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
The Father-God, the first member of the Godhead, also rules and reigns in the hearts of his saved children through the work and ministries of the other two persons who are co-equal members of the Godhead; God, the Son and God, the Holy Ghost. God the Father wants to be your Heavenly Father but you must be born spiritually into the family of God to be able to truly call Him by that title. Together they are personally known as Jehovah, the LORD; the one true eternal Godhead from “everlasting to everlasting” (Psalm 90:2).
2) The second person of the Godhead is God, the Son, “the Word”, one of His most important biblical titles. This special title, the Word is mentioned exactly seven times in the New Testament Scriptures, again, seven being the divine number of perfection. (John 1, I John 1 and 5, Revelation 19) The Word is also “God manifest in the flesh” (I Timothy 3, John 1), manifest (revealed) as the eternal Son of God (many passages in the New Testament use this title of the Son of God), – He is the LORD Jesus Christ, co-existing, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and revealed in Scriptures as the creator with the Father and the Holy Ghost. The scriptures reveal clearly the LORD Jesus Christ’s role and power in the creation of the universe; “by him all things were created”… “all things were created by him, and for him”…“by Him all things consist” (Colossians 1: 16, 17)… and “by whom are all things” (Hebrews 2: 10).
The crown jewel verse on this truth is found in Ephesians 3:9 “…God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:” Certain modern bibles have incorrectly dropped the critical portion of that phrase; “by Jesus Christ” which makes those bible versions more appealing to corrupt religions that teach a false doctrine concerning the identity and nature of Jesus Christ. When this Ephesians verse is taken together with the Colossians verses and the Hebrews verse, it is unreasonable to argue that God and Jesus Christ are distinctly separate as the eternal God and Jesus as a separate created being because of the use of “all” in every instance. If Jesus created “all” and was a created being himself, it would be a clear inconsistency and contradiction of these statements. However, when taken in the light of many verses that affirm his eternal nature as “God manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16), it makes perfect sense to recognize Him as the Creator and LORD God of “all”.
Furthermore, He is the only Saviour of mankind as the one and only “mediator between God and man” (1 Timothy 2) by which all men “cometh unto the Father” (John 14) “having made peace through the blood of his cross” (Colossians 2)…and “in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” (Ephesians 1).
The LORD Jesus wants to be our personal Saviour and Lord (Master and Ruler). We must be born again; born spiritually into the family of God by faith in Christ provided through God’s mercy and grace.
3) The third and final person of the Godhead is the Holy Ghost, a New Testament title. He is also known as “the Spirit of the LORD”, an expression and title found in Old Testament passages except for a key verse found in Isaiah 61:1 where “Lord” is used instead with lower case letters.
In the New Testament “the Spirit of the Lord” is found as another designated title for the Holy Ghost with “Lord” being always presented in lower case letters (Luke 4, Acts 5 and 8, II Corinthians 3). These verses link this title with the great Isaiah 61 passage in the Old Testament. The AV 1611 also accurately links “Lord” in Isaiah 61 to the Luke 4 verse that contains the quote from the “Lord” Jesus Christ when He read this prophetic scripture in the synagogue. The term LORD in the Old Testament is always a substitute for the name Jehovah, whereas “Lord” is a designation of Master and Ruler over another person. Indeed God should be both LORD and Lord. Likewise, Jesus is LORD and Lord. I have chosen to frequently designate Jesus as LORD Jesus in my writing to remind us that He is indeed Jehovah.
God, the Holy Ghost, is also known as “the Spirit of Christ” (Romans 8, I Peter 1), and “the Spirit of Truth “which proceedeth from the Father” (John 14, 15, 16 and I John 4), coexisting, co-eternal and co-equal with the Father and the Word (the Son). The Holy Ghost; the third person of the Godhead, is also known as “another Comforter” (John 14), one like unto the LORD Jesus Christ (who ascended back to the Father within a short period of days after His mighty resurrection).
The Holy Ghost is also our teacher, our source of power for service to God, our constant companion, our closest earthly and heavenly friend and our faithful guide through this present world. He represents the Godhead to us while on this earth in His essential ministries of washing our soul from sin when we respond in simple faith to the love of the LORD in the Gospel of His amazing grace and plenteous mercy to those trusting in only the LORD Jesus Christ to receive the wonderful gift of salvation which includes complete forgiveness and eternal life with the LORD in the new world to come.
The Holy Spirit also regenerates each truly repentant and genuine believer in Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord (Master and Ruler-owner). This regeneration is the new birth Jesus taught in John 3. The Holy Spirit also seals us, assuring our safe passage through this present world to the ultimate conclusion of our redemption when we receive our glorified and resurrected earthly bodies which are conjoined with our heavenly celestial bodies. (1Corinthians 15).
God, the Holy Spirit, is intimately present with all of us who are saved, abiding in us. He indwells us and comes along side of us, coaching, counseling, convicting, disciplining and encouraging us in our journey through this world. He protects and preserves us until our redemption is complete; until we are safe on that “beautiful shore” of eternity in our glorified new bodies made for the new heaven, the new earth and the New Jerusalem; bodies capable of travel throughout the universe and able to stand in the very presence of the Godhead; the LORD-Jehovah, in His fullest glory.
The Holy Ghost wants to come in and do the work of the new birth but you must individually and personally repent of sin, believing in your heart that Jesus died, was buried, rose again from the dead ascended back to the Father in heaven and ever lives to make intercession for you with the Father through the person and work of the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Christ. You must receive Him and his all sufficient work on the cross as the Lamb of God slain as our sin offering and full payment for the penalty of sin. Jesus the Lamb of God is the wonderful gift of amazing love, grace and mercy from the LORD, bringing cleansing, forgiveness and a new life in the LORD Jesus through the new birth, spiritually and in the future, physically, with our new resurrected bodies.
God, the Holy Ghost, has indeed encouraged me and led me patiently in this effort to write the articles and post resource materials on this web site. It is just one form among many of “waiting on the LORD” which simply means serving and pleasing Him just as a good “waiter” would seek to do; to please a famous customer in a high quality five star restaurant. Being attentive, making every possible wish a goal to achieve and diligently doing what is necessary for meeting the needs, desires and expectations of the LORD.
My God, the LORD, Jehovah, is also known most personally to me as my precious Saviour and coming KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS. He is simply the wonderful LORD Jesus Christ. He walked our planet, Earth, in his pre-resurrected human body about two thousand years ago. He is coming again soon as a conquering warrior-King to put down the rebellion of all of His enemies to rule and reign with absolute power and authority, to forever receive all of the worship, glory and honor due to the Most High God; the Godhead consisting of the three persons described above.
For those of us who are His saved children and offspring, not just by virtue of our original creation (Acts 17:28), but by the new spiritual birth from His Spirit in our salvation, the LORD is our precious Jehovah, or JAH, his intimate short form of the name… and He is also to be treated as our “Abba” (Daddy, Dad or Papa) if we rightly understand His word about our special place as His redeemed, born again “sons” (including daughters), regenerated by God, the Holy Spirit, born into the family of God through the Lamb of God, the LORD Jesus Christ, who was sacrificed for the sins of all mankind on the cross of Calvary.
We have been placed into Christ (the LORD Jesus) by the Baptism of the Holy Ghost which is the only true and biblical Baptism unto salvation. This occurs without the human help or intervention of the symbolic water baptism ritual which is to be administered only to believers after they are saved as an outward sign to others of the saved person’s inward transformation.
The Holy Spirit Baptism happens at the moment of our new birth upon the exercise of saving faith only in the person and work of the LORD Jesus Christ. In this Holy Ghost Baptism we are washed in His blood, cleansed and made whole and placed into the Body of the LORD Jesus.
We are made partakers of the divine nature, sealed by the earnest deposit of the Holy Spirit given unto us, preserved blameless and holy until the LORD Jesus Christ returns to this earth, coming back to receive us unto Himself and to establish His righteous reign in His glorious earthly Kingdom as promised in the Holy Scriptures.
The complete filling and out flowing of the Holy Spirit to others is a separate process from the Holy Ghost Baptism at salvation. This filling and outward manifestation of power comes about from our sanctification process where we increasingly yield to the LORD for service in obedience to His call to proclaim the good news to others in various ministries.
The LORD empowers us for service and to work the work He determines according to His words in scripture. You won’t find strange manifestations ever mentioned in God’s words as a true work of the Holy Spirit. This is a deception from the enemy using false signs and wonders to entice and seduce people from following the LORD in the manner He has prescribed. Just like the strange fire of Aaron’s sons in the worship at the Altar in the Tabernacle led to the death of these two disobedient priests, the strange manifestations of those who seek after sensationalism and pseudo “miracles” will lead to a spiritually weak and dying church. They will look powerful and rich according to man’s standards but according to God’s assessment they are “wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:”. (Revelation 3:17)
If very little of this doctrinal teaching makes sense to you, don’t give up. Please keep reading. The word of the LORD is powerful and able to open the eyes of our understanding, first unto salvation, and then unto a growing maturity through a lively faith where we are being enlightened to the wonderful truths that God wants all of us to know and have in our hearts.
You need to patiently do the homework of reading His words, paying close attention to detail as best you know how… and allow God to do his mighty work in your heart, soul, mind and spirit. And yes, the LORD will also bring your earthly body into the equation as a new perfect resurrected one. Let us not glory in our future, or our standing or our works for the LORD.
The scriptures say twice for emphasis; “He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” (Ephesians 1:31, 2 Corinthians 10:17) And He tells us through the Apostle Paul how to presently focus our attention while here on this earth serving Him:
“But God forbid that I should glory,
save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom the world is crucified unto me,
and I unto the world.”
Galatians 6:14
